I took the design from Jeremy Blum\u2019s book Exploring Arduino page 76.\u00a0\u00a0 I didn\u2019t have his exact components.\u00a0 So I made a few substitutions.\u00a0\u00a0 The project uses a 9V battery and only the ground is tied to the project.\u00a0\u00a0 I split the project so the top half of the board is the ground side.\u00a0 Bottom half of board is the power side.\u00a0 I tried to logic out my projects in the ground and power sides of the project.<\/p><ul><li>NPN 2222A transistor<\/li><li>1 k\u03a9 resistor<\/li><li>1N4007 diode<\/li><li>22\u03bcf capacitor<\/li><\/ul><p>The emitter side of the 2222A goes to ground.\u00a0<\/p><p>The base pin has the 1 k\u03a9 resistor going to pin 9 on the Arduino Mega 2560.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p><p>The collector pin goes to the negative side of the capacitor and diode with the blue wires.\u00a0<\/p><p>The motor has one wire to the negative side of the diode and the other to the positive side of the diode along with the 9V power<\/p><h3>I smoked 3 x 2222A transistors building them project.\u00a0\u00a0 You need to pay attention to the direction of the 2222A and diode.\u00a0 The diode has a silver ring on one side for is the cathode (+) end.\u00a0\u00a0 Make sure you don\u2019t have power coming from the Arduino to this breadboard.\u00a0\u00a0 Make sure you have the common ground on this
